Ooh yay! It's time for Peeping Tom Tuesday! Time for us to share a favourite little part of our corner of the world with you.
Today we're peeking into Wombat Hill House Cafe. This insanely lovely cafe is perched on top of Wombat Hill in Daylesford, in the middle of the historic botanic gardens.
I arrived with Little Miss Five in the middle of a thunderstorm. It was quite dramatic, thank goodness for oversized flying wombat colouring pages and life saving spotty cookies (for me!)
The western wall is adorned with a magnificent mural by Allan Wolf Tasker. A magical scene of Wombat Hill and surrounds... the tower, the trees, the wildlife... and a wombat or two.
Wombat Hill House is the brain child of Alla Wolf Tasker of Lake House fame, and her equally brilliant daughter, Larissa. Their wonderful team create delicious simple dishes with local produce. Some dishes are so local they come from the kitchen garden out the back. (Which is part of the cafe too... pull up a seat in the vegie patch. It's a bit gorgeous.)
The cafe also sells all manner of preserves and treats to take home. As well as favourite cookbooks and cuddly friends... just in case you miss spotting a wombat in the gardens...
Something a bit extra brilliant about Wombat Hill House is their free wifi ( + a great coffee or two = blog office on a special day out... you know it...) And if you don't have to work, they can throw together a fabulous picnic for you to take into the gardens and share under a 150 year old tree. *sigh* so lovely... Wander back for cocktails in the afternoon. SOOO much to love about our friendly little wombat on the hill.
Wombat Hill House is open Thursday - Monday 9am - 4pm for breakfast and lunch. You can find out more about the cafe, garden and store at wombathillhouse.com.au.

ps... This isn't sponsored in any way... I just love this little cafe, so I wanted to share with you a little peek inside. xx
