Ok so I have something to share with you...I'm a closet Frenchy wannabe, if I say it like that it doesn't feel like I'm committing to being a fully fledged Francophile! Breton stripes, baguettes, cheese and more cheese, sidewalk cafes, well I think you get the picture, I love it! And the more cliche the better!
I recently came across 'Parisian Chic', a style guide by Ines de la Fressange (super chic french model, mother, aristocrat, one time muse to Karl Lagerfeld, business women, need I say more...legend), and I devoured it? So many simple fashion and dressing tips from a bonafide 'so french so chic' goddess, I was hooked. So how do I start the transition! And is it even possible for a mother of three living in the country without looking like a complete tit at School drop off or in the express lane with the bumper pack of nappy pants? A Challenge I know, but I think I'm up for it!
So over the next few months I plan to update my lounge suit to something little more St Germain and a little less Stale Granola. I'm sure there'll be a few hit and misses, but what's fashion without a little fun and a lot of giggles along the way.
Today I thought I'd get a classic checked off the list right from the get-go, the Breton stripe top. I'm a complete sucker for a stripy tee, and I have added multiple versions of this to my wardrobe every season. Some would say its time for a change, but I say if it works, work it! And if Ines says, 'If it feels good, wear it', then how can I argue. It's also a lifesaver when having a 'wish I could go back to bed and start again' type of day. This little baby is my go to, and always makes me feel good. Hope it works for you too!
The top I'm wearing here is from Country Road, love!
I've also pinned a few other options if you're looking for inspiration. http://www.pinterest.com/golddustdays/my-frenchy-look-book/
Do you have a wardrobe winner, that works for you too? Or do you have a favourite brand of stripy tee you'd like to share with me?
