Ok, first of all, yes I meant to add the K to naff, cos' it's funny! And I love funny! Plus I fully embrace the crazy and quirky, so Knaff is not a negative tag at all! Hence my affair with novelty knitwear. After reading Kathy's Collectioning post, I thought I'd join in all the obsessive fun, and yes I have as many issues as the next hoarder...I mean collector.
It all began with a Home Economics project gone wrong, where the overlocker ate my beautiful eighties oversized khaki jumper I had 'designed'. The finished product was saved by some stunning maroon binding tape and brass studs, what can I say it was the eighties! But I wore the hideous thing with pride and I think my mum even wore it at some stage too. Thanks Mum!
Almost 15 years later I discovered the amazing Frenchy, Sonia Rykiel whilst on a work stint for Selfridges (amazing department store giant) in the UK, and my love for the Knaff Knit was reignited! I wish I could now showcase a selection of Rykiel knits, alas my wage and travel budget didn't stretch to designer knitwear. But her humour and colour had me at 'Bonjour', and she continues to produce gorgeous knitwear with wonderful French quirky wit. Love!
But back to me! I've since been accumulating a selection of my own funny or cutesy knits, that I love to wear out and not with much coaxing I might add. And not exclusively for the festive season either, which is like a green light to bring out the 'Crazy'!
So I'm happy to share just a few with you today, and I may save the Fair Isle knits for later in the year when our whole family turns into Will Ferrell from the movie 'Elf', yikes!
So I'm shameless, I don't care, and my kids think they're funny too...for now! Wait till Daddy gets out his Santa tshirt, emblazoned with 'Gangsta Wrapper', brilliant! But I'm not going to keep all the Knaff goodness to myself, I've included a whole lotta knaff knit on its own pinterest board for you to enjoy as well. I think I feel some fresh purchases coming on, maybe just to beat the xmas rush!
Now how many of you are game to show us your best knaff knit! I'd love to see them, I dare you!
